A postpartum doula's goal is to provide physical, emotional, and informational support to families during the postpartum period, which typically lasts from a few weeks to a few months after the birth of a baby. The doula's main focus is on the well-being of the new mother and her family, with the aim of helping them adjust to the challenges and joys of having a new baby in the household. As a doula, my approach is grounded in the latest evidence-based research and informed by a commitment to impartiality and respect for each family's unique needs and values. With a calm and compassionate presence, I strive to empower new parents with the knowledge and tools they need to confidently care for their baby. Whether it's providing assistance with newborn care, lending a listening ear, or helping with household tasks, I am here to offer unbiased, non judgmental support that is tailored to each family's specific needs. My goal is to help families navigate the transition to parenthood with grace and confidence, and to create a lasting foundation for a happy and healthy family life.

Laura Croley

FOUNDER and postpartum doula

A little about my background: I started my career as a nanny over 10 years ago; work that has taken me from Hawaii to Switzerland, France, Spain and even Australia. During my time in Australia, I completed a 2-year certification in College, along with a work placement in a Reggio Emilia Early Childhood Education Center in Tasmania. My extensive travels and work with families across a wide swatch of cultures has given me a wealth of knowledge that I have taken with me in my approach to my current work as a Doula.

In 2018, while living in Asheville, I completed my birth and postpartum doula training with DONA International. I have since supported many families as they welcome a new baby-whether it’s their first or their 4th. Doula work encompasses so many of my passions including, working with children, emotional support, advocacy for families and of course, snuggling sweet babies!

Why Doula Work: I am passionate about meeting families where they are and providing them with unbiased, non-judgemental care and support during the first few months of their babies lives (and beyond). My goal is to equip families with evidence-based information on infant care and development as well as to provide holistic support for new parents as they heal from pregnancy, child-birth and/or welcome a new baby into their home. I also have extensive knowledge in all things baby related: feeding, bathing, diapering, sleep and overall child wellness and can provide you with as much (or as little) information as you like as you begin the journey with your new baby!

I am LGBTQ, single parent, unconventional family friendly and do not discriminate. I look forward to working with you!

Empower

Bloomin' Mamas believes in the importance of empowering parents to trust more in themselves, their own intuition and their gut feelings around the decisions they make for their babies, their families and themselves. For a new parent the world can be noisy — full of opinions, options and overwhelming input from other people in their lives. Through authentic and transparent support, we offer parent-led resources and information so parents can grow in their confidence and trust.

Nurture

Bloomin' Mamas believes deeply in the power of nurturing, warm and gentle support. We believe in the power of a helping hand, wherever parents need it most — in the kitchen: cooking nourishing and nutritious meals, in the home: tidying up and helping organize all of your new baby supplies, Emotionally: A safe space to feel heard and validated. Reaching out to other service providers to create a network of supportive care. Bloomin' Mamas nurtures families with unbiased, parent-led support.

Community

Bloomin' Mamas believes in the power of people working together in love, support and selflessness, to serve those in their community when they need it most. The visions of villages past are what Bloomin' Mamas strives to create in the lives of the families that I serve. Growing a nurturing network of other experts, we are always ready to call on the community to help clients get the information, support and education they need, in order to feel rested, nourished and confident.
